What is Revit Modelling?

Revit is a BIM (Building Information Modelling) software which includes complex design and collaboration for architectural design, MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing), structural engineering and construction. Its powerful tools let you use the intelligent model-based process to plan, design, construct and manage buildings and infrastructure.

Revit has transformed the way that building professionals communicate and manage modelling workflow, which has made it an evolutionary improvement on traditional CAD. Design Versatility

Revit is much more than 3D CAD. Users can manipulate projects from different views, including:

Parametric Data

Built into Revit modelling is the ability to add parameters to specific items in a project. All of this information can be used by Revit to automatically and efficiently create schedules, allowing designers to eliminate repetitive or simple tasks and spend more time on essential aspects of design.

Parametric data provides easy integration with construction documents like product specifications. Because construction projects often operate on strict deadlines, having accessible data in the same place is key to time-saving and better design.

Unlike AutoCAD, Revit allows all project data to be stored in a single project file, permitting users to work on the same project file and merge changes with every save. All changes in Revit are coordinated across the entire project, so a change in one place (view) is a simultaneous change in all views.

If you’re already familiar with AutoCAD, it may be easier for you to learn some of the modelling aspects of Revit. However long it takes to learn, Revit is considered an industry standard.
